REAL RACISM

So I have spent the past two years before coming to DC studying, talking about, and fighting racism and inequality. I have spent countless hours bitching about the system and discovering how divided and unequal and corrupt our society really is. This past two years has been complete bull shit. So we come into the public defender service and right off the bat a kick ass lawyer comes in to talk with us. He gives us stats on DC immediately to set us up with what we will be encountering on a daily basis. Just to give you an ideal here are some stats on the police system in dc: currently it is 70 percent more likely for a black man to get arrested than any white person. Furthermore there are 7 police precincts in the DC area. In district 5 there are three universities including American, Georgetown, and Washington University. The police do not go to district five, they stay in predominant black districts. Does this mean that laws are not being broken in District five, of course not, it means mpd are targeting black people.
The inequality here is amazing. We lately have been visiting several inner city black schools in SE DC, you walk in to the school and there are no computers, the building walls are falling apart, and it is not safe to go outside. Less than 3 miles away in NE Washington close to the capital those kids get the benefit of many coputers, a beuatiful school, ad all the help they need. Might I add that the minority make up of the SE school borders around 95 percent black. NO JOKE.
I am shocked that there is not media all over this, but alas who cares?
